BACKGROUND HISTORY

In the 1960s, Robert Shippy's grandfather, Lester Shippy, made a significant impact on the construction industry by introducing the fireproofing trade to his sons, who became known as The Shippy Brothers. This foundational knowledge and expertise paved the way for future family endeavors in the field. In 1984, Terry Shippy, Robert's father, along with Sheldon Shippy, took a monumental step by founding Rolling Plains Construction (RPC). This new venture aimed to build on the family's established reputation and expand their presence in the construction industry.

The company faced a pivotal moment in 1991 with the passing of Terry Shippy. Despite this loss, co-founder Sheldon Shippy took the helm and dedicated himself to continuing and expanding Terry's vision for RPC. Under Sheldon’s leadership, the company laid a strong foundation for future growth and success.

Entering the 2000s, Terry’s son, Robert Shippy, stepped into a leadership role, bringing fresh energy and a new perspective to the company. Robert spearheaded a period of rapid expansion, establishing office locations in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and Texas, which significantly increased RPC’s reach and capabilities.

Today, Rolling Plains Construction stands as the largest fireproofing company in the nation, a testament to the enduring legacy of the Shippy family. With over 600 employees, RPC continues to thrive under the leadership of Robert and Cannon Shippy. Their commitment to innovation and excellence ensures that the company remains at the forefront of the fireproofing industry, building on the solid foundation laid by their predecessors.
