Picture1[1].jpg

WHAT ARE LIGHTWEIGHT INSULATING CONCRETE ROOF DECKS (LWIC)?

(LWIC) Roof Decks are composite systems cast over galvanized metal decks, structural concrete, wood decks, or existing roof systems. LWIC comprises Water, Portland Cement, Foam, and EPS Holey Board.

WHY USE LWIC ON YOUR ROOF?

Using LWIC in combination with Expanded Polystyrene Insulation (EPS) on roof decks provides the following:

  • Positive Drainage

  • Wide Range of R-Values

    • Can provide up to 48" EPS Board - EPS provides R4/inch

    • LWIC Provides R1/inch

  • 1.5 Hour - 2 Hour UL Fire Ratings

    • In some projects, LWIC can eliminate the need to spray fireproofing on the underside of a metal deck. With LWIC, architects can select various fire-rated roof structure designs.

  • Wind Uplift Ratings FM & UL

  • Green Solution

    • LEED and Green Certified

  • LWIC can be installed on Metal Decks, Structural Concrete Decks, and Wood Decks.

  • Lower Life-Cycle Costs

    • Will last the life of the building
